How Empire Got Started
Jody Coulston didn’t set out to build one of Sacramento’s longest-running demolition companies. He set out to do one job well, then the next one, and then the one after that. More than 30 years later, that’s still how Empire Demolition and Hauling operates.
It started with a single truck, a small crew, and a simple belief: show up when you say you will, do the work safely, and leave every site better than you found it. Word spread quickly. In an industry where cutting corners is all too common, Jody built a reputation for doing the job the right way.
The early years weren’t easy. Jody took on projects other contractors turned down, learned the permitting and safety requirements firsthand, and reinvested in better equipment and experienced crew members who shared his standards. Every challenging project became another lesson that strengthened the company.
What has never changed is the philosophy. For Jody, demolition isn’t just about tearing something down. It’s about clearing the way for what a property owner wants to build next while respecting their property, their budget, and their timeline.
Today, Jody continues to oversee projects throughout the Sacramento area, making sure every demolition, excavation, and land clearing job reflects the standards that have kept Empire Demolition and Hauling trusted for more than three decades.
